Last one as a beginner.

Marks the end of my beginner course!! :D Took an extra half hour for this one =/ very slow. May be because I'm not used to such big a surface to work on. I just can't draw the petals with speed from the fear of ruining it all. Have to work on making the petals look more even in colour.. the uneven ones are too outstanding LOL.

Learnt how to use a new brush for each lesson. Should probably resume with the intermediate series after this week. Till my next post :)

Tada~~! My works from my 2nd folk art lesson. True, this picture is edited but only because the original one dulled the colours and didn't do them justice ;p Just made slight changes to the colour temperature, if you're wondering.

Realised that being a lefty has some drawbacks too. Your hand tends to block your view when you're shading, making it less possible for you to estimate and stroke correctly. Quite happy with my work =) The key holder is kinda plain so i prefer the fruits on the right :D

Fact #1:
It's about drawing with a minimal number of strokes, because the strokes remain visible as ever after varnish is applied.

Fact #2:
Takes a whole lot of focus, time and effort. Not forgetting, practice. Each stroke demands precision and great skill, even the basic ones.

Fact #3:
Beauty of this art lies in the blending of colours as you present different shades of a certain colour by staining the hairs of a thin brush with two contrasting colours, so that they may blend in between. Smudging, is unavoidable but cannot be allowed as those blots of mixed colours remain as blemishes. Something I learnt the hard way ;(

Fact #4:
Easier said than done. Requires great coordination so that you can produce strokes the way you want them.

Master the basics, lay a good foundation, and you're good to go =) I'm still on the way xD

Wishing all my readers a happy new year.. And don't worry about the whole end-of-the-world-is-on-21st-december talk which has been going on ever since the movie 2012. The only thing constant in life is change. This saying is well-known among all ages due to the truth in it. With this going on, how do people react to changes which happen in their lives? Some people prefer to spend their whole lifetime doing the same things and thus avoid change. On the other side, others think that change is always a good thing.

It is believed that many would like to lead the same lifestyle throughout their years. By following a routine, everything will be under control, with all things manageable and nothing which cannot be handled. For example, a white-collar officer might want to stay working in his cubicle and doing paperwork for all the days of his life. This mentality may be established due to being contented with his current condition or financial status. With order in life, people will be able to gain total control of themselves and practise their own ideal ways of life.

However, others might think that changes are definitely for the better. People who avoid change are seen as stagnant in life. They do not make the effort to adapt to alterations, but remain conservative just because they are unwilling to leave their comfort zones. Conversely, those who embrace changes in life are able to improve themselves. For instance, some choose to keep up with advancements in technology while others opt to be computer-illiterate. Consequently, those who adapt are able to enjoy many more conveniences than those who are afraid of change.

Optimists hold the view that changes are always beneficial. Changes allow a person to grow mentally and physically. When there is trouble, one will learn through problem-solving and emerge as a mature individual. After overcoming trials, he will then be thankful and appreciate what he has achieved. When things change, one will be well-prepared through experiences. Hence, there is no shadow of doubt that changes are essential for one’s growth and development of survival skills.

To sum up, I firmly believe that although changes may not seem favourable at times, change will always be a good thing. Changes aid us in growing up. Changes make us adapt and well-prepared for anything out of the norm. Changes make us change, always for the better.

I know how long I haven't been here, and now I would like to bore u, a loyal reader who still browses this website although no new posts have been added .. like since...a month ago?? Yeah, I'm mean..I'm a total big meanie! But I'm just doing this to feel confident about my writing..I mean.. if i can let this short text be posted online to be open for criticism I must be sure about myself rite? never mind if u dun get what i mean. There isn't much logic in what I just said.or wrote, in this case. =)

In this modern era, air travel is now easily accessible through one of the greatest inventions of mankind – aeroplanes. Physical distance is no longer present as a hindrance for people who would like to venture far abroad. Therefore, many pay visits to other countries to gain exposure and knowledge concerning the others who dwell with them on this planet.

When touring in foreign land, some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behaviour. As the saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do, one should adapt to the local lifestyle while travelling as this helps in keeping peace. By knowing the do’s and don’ts in a particular region, one will then blend in well with the locals, not drawing unwanted attention to oneself. For example, certain gestures such as a thumbs-up might be seen as rude in countries like Australia although in many other places we use it as a sign of agreement or encouragement.

However, many hold a common view that host countries should welcome cultural differences of the travellers from various backgrounds as well. The hosts should accept the visitors and respect their culture instead. Host countries can then understand their neighbours better and learn from their traditions in order to improvise on their own beliefs. For instance, bowing to the elders has been part of the Chinese tradition and is a suitable method to show respect for the other races too. Similar acts of good conduct can then eventually become as widely used as the handshake if they are adopted in different cultures.

In conclusion, be it accepting others or being accepted ourselves in a different community, we must keep in mind that considering the great cultural diversity of nations, patience and tolerance are to be exercised by all. By respecting one another, mutual understanding is achieved and world peace realised.

it's been a long time since i last blogged.
lots have happened since the last entry,
main event being my visit to Singapore =)
I'm quite familiar with the Lion City,
it's like my huge summer home or sth.
And i NEVER get tired of tht tiny island.. there's just so much to see!!
Not forgetting ogling eye candies all the while..
whoa..and i tell you, Singaporean guys do really look better than Malaysians LOL
I'm not sure about the girls, don't bother me much =P

Me in the MRT. The government has really put in effort into preventing suicide cases from happening.

They set up signs like 'Be responsible for your actions'or something similar and utilised automatic doors and walls to form a barrier between the tracks and waiting place.

My sister told me whenever announcements concerning delayed train services are made, there is a high possibility that someone fell to the tracks and died. I'm so glad I didn't witness anything like that during my stay or else I'll be traumatised and the trauma would suffice to keep me off the island.

Imagine the gore..first comes a loud thud as the train hits the body,blood splatters all over the windows, the sound of bones cracking and screams a few seconds after that.Enough of that.

Well, I spent my Sunday in Universal Studio, Singapore with my dear sis and cousin =)

The entry pass costs a whopping S$72, but it was worth it!!

The sights you get to take in, the free shows.. free photos taken with favourite Disney characters, thrilling rides with intensified corkscrew and turns..I actually feel like we shortchange them =.=

anywayyy.. I loved the performances!! Esp. Monster Rock!

We were so lucky to be there at the right time, just in time to enter into the theatre.

They could all sing well and dance while they were at it, which was pretty amazing as their vocals and moves didnt seem to get affected nor did they look exhausted at the end of the show. Loved the host who could hit high notes like Adam Lambert xD

Was squinting due to the glaring sunlight. Regretted leaving my aviator shades at home. Seriously, I should wear them more often to prevent crow's feet from forming around my eyes because of long-term squinting >.< .Far Far Away Land was like a scene from a dream. And I bumped into a collegemate x.x maybe it was really Dreamland. Admittedly, I found the 4D movie kinda childish but to make our 72 bucks worth every cent spent, we went for every show. But I got to see Puss in Boots and took a picture with him, so no regrets =)

The resized picture is too small to show the bottle I bought from USS. And yes, I bought a plastic bottle which is of normal mineral water packaging plastic quality for S$15.90, merely because I found it cool to carry it around just like the ~~other kids~~ others. I even strapped it around my neck and left it dangling. That is how uncool I am.

I loved the rides, namely Battlestar Galactica: Cylon and Human. Obviously, just by judging the names of the two rides, it's easy to figure that Human was not as exciting as Cylon, and it didn't get me as wet either :p I'm a thrill-seeker haha.Another feature of USS was performances by Daddy O's, they have voices to die for I tell ya..n they twitched their butts LOL a bonus. Sho cute =D

All I got for myself from USS was that bottle. Sigh. But I spent a lot on other stuff xD hiahhiah. And I went to Marina Bay Sands to take a look at how opulent a complex it was. And dangggg it was so impressive I spent 10 hours there. Can u imagine? 10 hours in a mall where everything sold was branded, with Chanel next to Gucci, Hermes at a level below the two other brands mentioned..???!!

No la :D I used most of my time admiring art pieces.. took a look at exhibitions on Van Gogh, artifacts discovered from a sunken ship, and works of Salvador Dali. Dali, was pure genius!!I felt like I was one of the rich and famous and learned LOL..AND I found out that Singaporeans have their own gambling den..instead of paying $100 deposit for entering into the casino at USS, they can opt for the one exclusively for Singaporean citizens and permanent residents only..and THAT one is situated right in Marina Bay Sands!

Sign tells you that I'm no liarrrr. :D

Marks. Relationships. Mistakes.

I dwell on the past.

I can't help but to rewind and pause and replay.

It makes me feel worse.

But it reminds me of how imperfect I am.

Not that it's a good thing.

Sometimes when I give in to pride,

Day 1: Mid Valley!

Last Friday marked the end of my AS trials!!! Yay!!

My after-exam holidays was compressed to 3 days.

Gosh..but many extended their holidays..many i tell u...even lecturers...x.x

Well, mum picked me up from college after the last paper..

She was there 12 sharp o.o

And then we went to grab lunch in Mid Valley ( Double yay for a mid valley kaki like me!!)

Pic above clearly shows how much we enjoyed the food. =)

Spaghetti carbonara for me and grilled baramundi for mummy( nt sure..)

Tasted good and the set lunch was only RM18.90!!

I was fidgeting with the lomo cam I bought the whole time...

THAT I actually forgot to take close-up pics using my digicam. =/

They created a garden in the shopping mall LOL

Sigh..everything just looks so nice after the exams..

BUT the steaks aren't anywhere near to real pounds of meat. HAHAHA

Was euphoric all night but I AM SO GLAD that alcohol isn't really veritaserum for me.

I seriously prefer white over red when it comes to taking wine with food.

Tasted better with the meal which came later.

First course (a) : Salad.

The cheese did wonders to the salad.

Made the leaves taste so much better, coupled with pickled dunnowhats.

(b): Mushroom soup.

Definitely not the low-cost campbell type.

Not as creamy but ...wow..Mushrooms in every sip LOL

My main course: Beef burger.

Not bad, not bad at all...

By far the best beef burger I have ever tasted!!!

And it's not as small as McD's which you can munch through.

Around the size of chili's with extra bacon strips in it.

Thoughtful of them to stick a toothpick in it so that it will stand when you cut it.

Perfectly cooked.. perfect with the sauce..

Butter sauce i think. Didn't try the mashed potato because mum finished it.

Considering how rarely she finishes her food,

it must have been really really awesome.

Day 3: Movies at Leisure Mall and Gathering BBQ PT.

Watched Rio and Source Code.

Rio was amusing, the latter was awesome though.

I guess I've grown up and cartoons do not have that much appeal to me anymore.

Having a time traveling machine is not all about fun.

Spoiler alert: At first they thought it was just a past memory,

turns out the different outcomes really changed present reality.

Loved both movies but Source Code ruled 'cos the way the plot was presented was similar to Inception.

It makes you confused between what is real and what's not.

6H gathering after that.

Quite awkward to meet everyone finally, after 7 years..or 6..nvm..

But we had fun...and the BBQ wings and sausages..

*drools* so geng weih...

All i did there was shove food into my mouth.

And talk about unis..talk about relationships..catch up...gossip...

till i got so thirsty but all of the plastic cups were used and none available for poor me.

Sudoku life lesson.

The thing about Sudoku is that

It reminds you that it's easy to start on something new, giving in to our wants.

A new Sudoku puzzle is very tempting to players

As the first few hints is always very obvious and detectable.

But as you proceed, you will eventually meet with dead ends.

No more clues to hang on. No more sources to depend on.

There comes a time when you feel like giving up on the one you're working on

and start anew with a clean puzzle.

The same goes with relationships, love, studies, religion etc.

Meeting with difficulties you have to crack your head to solve is all part of the life cycle.

In fact, might as well say it's part of everyday life.

People break up everyday, sever ties when they get fed up, give up on their studies and would rather waste their time on meaningless activities, leave God with the excuse that they can't adhere to His commandments, but in actual fact it's just because they don't want to...

the list goes on and on, but you get what I mean.

The beginning is always sweet and easy, easy like peanuts, but as you reach the rough edges,

Thurs.

Thank God the maths paper was not as hard as the previous ones,

or else that would really ruin my CNY mood.

So right after the paper, the LAST paper (xD)

almost everyone left the exam hall with a smile

everyone except me ( at first la)

cos i was still busy thinking abt which movie to watch to celebrate.

And so I settled on Great Day which was a local one by Woohoo! productions or sth like tht.

Turned out to be quite saddening, bad choice if u wanna celebrate happy occasions.

Good for people who neglect their parents or the elderly,

it has the similar effect of slapping them in the face to wake them up.

Aww man i cried, I cried so hard, even more than during Money Not Enough 2.

Tell u why, MNE2 has only one old lady in it whereas Great Day has 3 old folks with different stories but all emphasising on their wish to have loved ones with them without becoming burdens.

So the effect is tripled.Right? No?

Fri.

Next day I shopped at Bintang Walk. Bought a denim vest xD from forever 21.

Sis commented that I was acting older than my age.

She's the most good natured among all of us

Then we visited relatives and family friends,

Doctors here, doctors there, doctors everywhere. (ii)

The pain of not having anything to do. Nothing in your hands for you to accomplish. It felt like life was without meaning. And you were disposable, just another insignificant member of the society. Thank God I managed to deal with it, I made myself do things to rid me of that feeling. (nothing to do? make things to do. Works in the same way as the 'no time, make time' logic.) I triggered hope for my own self. At the same time, I was getting impatient from waiting for results for the JPA scholarship I previously applied for. After going through the hospital exposure program in some district hospital and the interview in which I didn't shine, I was prepared for the worst.

As predicted, I was not offered sponsorship to study abroad. All there was in the rejection letter was just a failed attempt to comfort people like us, stating that we might secure a place to study locally and that the authorities were still considering our applications. The sting of rejection added to my sense of hopelessness, and it was unbearable. I was already on the verge of breaking down, then someone ( I forgot who ) told me, it was still possible to appeal to MCA so that they might really reconsider. However I was not eager to do so, to think about facing failure after failure, not so pleasant right? And thus I procrastinated and delayed making the appeal.

I let negative thoughts engulf me without fighting back.

Although I had already given up on myself on that matter, my family was there for me and they were far from losing hope on me getting that scholarship. Family, they certainly see you through thick and thin without any complaints even when you let your anger out on them. They always understand. So on the day before the deadline, I handed in the forms to the main office. I was not hoping for much, I stopped hoping. It just hurts when you hope for too much in return. You'll just end up falling really hard. So I left everything to God. If it was supposed to be, then let it be. If it was not meant for me, I'll move on. But it was the last resort and I had to do it so as to continue in life with no regrets. While pending appeal, I went to Singapore to let my mind off things for a while. Bittersweet memories, a lot happened there.

I wanted to extend my stay, but happy moments fly by ( they don't pass by, they fly!) so it wouldn't have done much help as well. But that one week, one week was all it took to know that there are many windows open and much more was in store for me. Without being hopeful, you do not experience as much joy as others who were anticipating good news. That was the case for me when I found out that I was offered sponsorship to study in India, sponsorship inclusive of tuition fees and living expenses. The only drawback was that I had to serve for 10 years. 10,not a small number. Not 5, not 7, but 10. That was the only thing I focussed on.You might think that if it's your passion to become a doctor, you're gonna be doing that for a lifetime, so what's ten years? I have no comments to people who reply that to me when I ask them for their opinions.

I won't judge them, for I do not want to be judged for having an entirely opposite perception regarding the bond.

I want to become a surgeon. To do that, 10 plus years is required. I know I am very ambitious, but I know that the sky's the limit too. Fortunately, according to the person in charge, I am given the choice to specialise in between serving so that it will not disrupt my original plan. So no worries ;p Right now all that matters is that my plan will not be altered and my beliefs not compromised. Everything is considered settled and I just have to study hard to qualify as a doctor 6 years later.

I am one step closer to everything I ever wanted in life. I have progressed, have you?

The article written by Dr. Hsu , A Doctor Too Many has planted seeds of doubt in me, that I now wonder whether my choices were right. Follow your dreams, they tell me. Really? How can so many share the same dream?On that, I will post some other entry some time later. But for this entry, I would like to tell the world, my story.

Indeed, there are many local institutes which have started offering medical courses in the recent years. The courses have affordable fees and are recognised by the government of course, so that we are able to practise in the future just like the others who needed their parents to pay through their noses.

Not surprisingly, these courses are very attractive to students who want to study medicine but are supposedly not capable of doing so due to the costly fees. And so, having the mindset that it's just a medical degree and what's more important is choosing the field to specialise in, we fall into the traps of those behind the scenes, just waiting to earn large sums of money from us.

These kids, not knowing what they were in for, thought they had made a great deal. This group of students were stuck with what they paid for, namely me.

I was not satisfied with what I was given, with no textbooks and standardised syllabus, I was unsure about the relevance of the course. But it was a crash course, imagine being able to graduate as a doctor at the age of 24. Tempting, isn't it? Hence, I kept my mouth shut and went with the flow, trying to focus on the big picture, trying to ignore the fact that I was not benefiting from the classes I attended. But I couldn't. I believed that I was not fit for the course, wait, the course was not fit for me ( I know, I can be very arrogant at times ) and I believed that I deserved better. Thinking about all the possibilities which might happen if I didn't take this step didn't help either. Instead of fearing that I might not end up as a doctor, I had amazing dreams of being discovered and all my worries about financial aid wasn't necessary at all, everything taken cared of.

Till now, I don't know why I had that strong a feeling that urged me to leave and think positively that everything was going to be fine. Must be God's way of comforting me. It takes a lot of courage to leave something which might turn out to be the right stepping stone to realising my dream, but that was a risk I had to take, and a price I had to pay for my parents had paid the fees for that semester in a lump sum. After getting my SPM results slip, I was quite certain that my options were no longer limited. I quitted the course. I didn't finish what I started. Regrets? Maybe at first, but I knew that I had to stick with my decision of leaving. Fickle-mindedness was not going to bring me anywhere.

I had 4 months. 4 months until July. 4 whole months of enjoying sightseeing and holidaying. 4 months of spending time with my parents whom I missed dearly during my stay in Penang. 4 whole months of being tortured by the little voice inside my head which was constantly reminding me that I wasted time and am nowhere near to achieving my ambition.

I would have lost my mind from being too free with nothing to do at all if it were not for my father. He has been jobless for a long period of time and I always thought it was a pleasure for him for he had ample time to read and just spend time at home. In that four months, I truly felt his pain.

First college finals.

First end semester break in college.

I can't believe the semester breaks are shorter than holidays from celebrations and the festivals.

2 weeks as compared to 1 week as a break after those days of preparation??

smelting weapons of knowledge and sharpening them by consistent revision and mugging and wielding them at war and finally get involved in massacre by the papers?

You must be kidding me.

We need more time to heal our wounds and to move on, mind you.

As usual, some were miraculously unhurt, some mildly injured, several suffered severe slashes and papercuts ( LOL! Do laugh, pls) and a few were less fortunate than the others.

Everyone is triumphant in this war, regardless of how they turn out to be after the warfare.

Everyone, survived.

Thank God I am OK despite experiencing trauma, leading to me having the temporary phobia of touching books =D

There goes my excuse for slacking throughout December haha!

Next,

Speaking of breaks,

I bet MANY gained weight or are still gaining weight due to the holidays.

It's actually part of logic.

Stress suppresses your appetite ( NORMALLY, that is for normal ppl =) ), so holidays, provided u did stuff to destress yourselves, causes u to gain weight!

Not that it's a bad thing, really, cos round/voluptuous/chubby/cute/well-fed ( but not fat) people tend to have friendlier personalities and are warmer in nature.

Then again my statements are in general.

I'm not saying that if you're skinny you're hostile.

Don't get me wrong =)

Ok I digressed from what I really wanted to say,

so back to weight issues and how to solve'em.

Heard of AbCircle?? It's kinda like a wheel with kneepads for you to kneel on and you're supposed to move yourself about the wheel.

It works reeeaaaalllyyy well!

You only have to go through 3 minutes of pain cos the effect is equivalent to 100 sit-ups, so they say.

I am proud to say, after being forced to face my weight cos of my increased blood pressure,

I have lost 2.7kg! And I no longer have high b.p.!

2kg 2 weeks ago and 0.7 last week.

0.7, i know its not that great an achievement , but i had heavy meals during the weekend and last Friday ( Chinese dinners and Chili's!!no regrets, honestly)

so it's surprising that I was even able to shed that amount of weight =p

And don't try to trick me into telling my body weight.

I am really sensitive when it comes to questions like that. ;(

k la..i know tht mayb some will think i lost weight cos i have lots more, probably true as well, but i think that the exercising machine mentioned above will be effective for all.

I had a superb weekend for I spent time with many relatives, the main stars were my cousin from England and her mum.

I didn't really talk to them other than answering their questions with short answers. =/

I guess I'm more of a listener than a speaker.

Spent quality time with the whole bunch of maternal relatives (does this phrase exist?)

Especially enjoyed that little portion of family history Grandaunt told us.

Bet that's only the tip of the iceberg and I really hope we can know all about the Yaps from her, she's the oldest member of the Yap family i think.

It's amazing that she's 84(or 85) and still is so sound.

She outlived her younger siblings and is still independent O.O

Wow...

Well, after the exams, enjoyment, time with loved ones,

I'm back here in my hostel, back to square one, back to preparing for exams, back to looking forward to gatherings, back to anticipating the joy of getting together for meals.

That's life, isn't it??

I've grown up with my blog.

I've learnt to strive for things i want,

PLATTSBURGH — A suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed a Plattsburgh State student who was riding his bike Tuesday has been identified and located, Plattsburgh-based State Police said.

However, police could not release any additional information on that arrest Tuesday night.

Yee Hao Chiel, 20, of Malaysia was reportedly hit by a tractor-trailer shortly after 5 p.m. at Exit 37 of the Adirondack Northway near Route 3, and the driver apparently left the scene.

Police were looking for the tractor-trailer, which a witness described as red with a trailer that resembled three upside-down cones or triangles.

“It looked like something that would haul materials or cement,” said the witness, James Thompson, 31, of Peru.

Thompson was at a red light on Plaza Drive facing south when the accident occurred.

He said the bicyclist and the tractor-trailer were both eastbound on Route 3 and approached the intersection at about the same time. The tractor-trailer had a red light and failed to come to a complete stop, Thompson said.

Shortly after the tractor-trailer struck the bicyclist, Thompson said he saw its brake lights come on but that it “sped off” after that.

Michelle Ouellette, director of public relations and publications at Plattsburgh State, said Chiel was a transfer student who was new to the college this semester.

“He was an academically outstanding student, and he was very well liked,” Ouellette said. “He already had several close friendships.”

Traffic was backed up on the exit ramp as police investigated the accident Tuesday. A crumpled bike and shoes could be seen by the roadside.

Anyone with information is asked to call Plattsburgh-based State Police at 563-3761.

Police said the incident is still under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.

I was devastated to find out that my senior suffered such a tragic death.

He was only cycling for goodness' sake!!!

Although we hear about these kind of accidents all the time,

It's only when someone close to u gets involved tht u actually feel how bad it is.

And now, I really feel it even though we were nt close.

The thought that someone u actually know has just vanished from the surface of the earth.

It's plain depressing and it's too much for me to handle.

I know I ll have to deal with handfuls of deaths after becoming a doctor but right now I just feel so unprepared.

Death is always near u. You might just lose everything in a flash when lady luck is not by your side.

And then u ll see that everything uve fought for, worked ur ass off for , can just be robbed from you when the time comes.

No one can foresee his or her impending demise.

And thus I am lucky, very, very lucky, to be alive.

So be contented with life as it is, for nothing else matters more.

Yes!!!

I am abt to reach my hundredth entry!!

I have decided to carry out this task of posting my 92nd entry on this very day because of all the good happenings which mark my growing up into an adult who has learnt to love, to accept failure and to deal with victory n failure just the same.

Firstly, I was shocked that I actually did well in one of the papers in my mid-semester examination.

It definitely boost my confidence after the fall in physics.

I still think I am right u know, in terms of my answers, I guess my logic is not really applicable in the real world.

But well, like any other KTT-ian i had high hopes and expectations n just like any other KTT-ian, I faced nothing but disappointment.

(I actually misspelled disappointment to dissapointment O.O goes to show how much has my english level deteriorated.)

It felt like they just wanted to break us down u know?

Like they are trying to make us all feel that we are actually not smart enough.

I took one blow already. Still waiting for Chem and maths.

Btw, I believe that I was not able to do my best cos I went overboard mugging.

I should just go on with my old ways cos it's proven through numerous exams and tests that it is the right one for me.

Similar to the theory that there is someone for everyone =).

I believe that I was studying blindly for the recent exam which caused me long hours of heartache.

So, I am gonna stick to my motto of living life to the fullest and to study cos i want to, not when i need to.

I shan't give in to peer pressure and the fear of losing which causes me to lose focus on what matters most.

I read a How-to article on accepting failure and they said tht it is vital to jot down ur failures to get over them.

So, here i go again.

Failure:

I made a lot of mistakes during chem today..argh same subject..

mayb we weigh things differently so dun argue with me on wat I mean ' a lot'

Self-examination...

Reason behind failure:

I must have been quite careless at tht time and I did not focus on terms and history and discoveries made by extraordinary people, which cost me quite a lot.

Action after reflection:

Be more careful nx time..and be prepared for failure as we humans make them mistakes ALL THE TIME...

so it happens all the time~~

And u can never really say uve experienced the sweet taste of victory unless you have indeed found out how bitter failure can be..that is to say...

I MUST BE ON MY WAY TO SUCCESS =D

I am in a seriously bad mood right now.

I overslept.

I know it's my fault and Bathma ( my cutey cutey apartmentmate) warned me that I was not to fall asleep.

I guess it's just human nature to always do the opposite of instructions.

So i overslept and was late for Chemistry.

I was only 10 mins late but when I got there no one was actually there..

thanks to Bathma I found the venue after tht.

and to make matters worse,

they were having a quiz...

and i made 2 careless mistakes which are quite costly... due to the blurry state of mind i was in and the shock due to sudden changes in routine.

and yes I am taking these two excuses as factors contributing to me being not fit for assessments.

yeah, JUST BLAME IT ON EXTERNAL FACTORS!!!

sigh I failed to make lemonade when life dealt me with lemons,

so I got a double dose of the sourness because of the accumulated lemons piling up on me.

Lastly, to a fren who may never read this, I am sorry but I have to.

Pros : Allowance? monthly!! You get paid to study, to play, to work, to dress up, to just be a student. For Hakka yeen-s, Makai dou mm su zho, tok shu jiu hao lo! Just ask me if u don't get that quote =) Next, u're one step closer to realise your dream, your lifetime goal. The feeling is just... wow.

Cons : The bond... which every scholarship holder dreads.. after the honeymoon as a student, it is required of u to contribute to the society by working in a government hospital for more than 10 years..cos taxpayers' money is being spent on ur education. By the time it's all over, I bet u'll have enough to release urself from the bond lol. Just picture this : you got married right after graduation and had a child. 10 years later, ur child is already 10!!! Never mind, that's the worst case scenario. Who knows, government policies are ever-changing rite?

2. Smartphones

Pros: Sleek appearance, people kinda judge you by ur gadget , nice games, awesome in-built camera, provides users with convenient web browsing, affordable yet status defining, aaa i love my new phone!Why of course, it is one of the smartest to date xD

Cons: Just when you thought it's so smart, you suddenly remember abt the price you have to pay to enjoy every one of its functions. Sigh. Everything has a downside indeed.

But don't get me wrong!!! I still love it =D Just that going online via mobile has to wait. =) ( Gee, actually I'm just too kiam siap o.o)

Recently I have been doing some amateur research on phones which proved to be VERY time

consuming yet unproductive as I have not come to my final decision.

Actually I only have 'smart'phones on my mind.

And yeah my view is so limited that initially i only considered Blackberry and Iphone.

And a good friend of mine had to burst my bubble and add to my confusion by suggesting a Nokia smartie known as Nokia C6.

iPhone. Known for a large variety of apps and the huge screen AND no buttons at all!!

Yeah it has nice features but it's off my list.

I'm not much of an apps person larr and my phone barely has media files in its storage.

So....not worth the buy for me who only treats phones as just...phones.

Next comes Blackberry Bold 9700 and Curve 8250.

That's Boldie there. Curvie looks almost the same but Boldie has got nicer buttons IMO.

However, Curve is more affordable and if I were to get a BB i guess Curvie it will be.

Btw the white Blackberry models look nicer to me. Contradicts rite? it's white but it's black LOL.

Most of my frens think that it's made more for working peeps. Ohwell.

Then nokia c6 had to make me confused.

Just look at the machine!!!

well mini machine whatever. Ya, I'm bias, I chose the white model. It's just so smooth!!

And I read from another blog that it's suitable for social networkers. Phewiittt!!!

Heheh, I've got a wide social circle ok!!

Surprisingly it's cheaper than the other two mentioned above as well.

It has a better camera too.. 5.0mp xD not that it matters since ive got my digicam.

Focus on the visible label : Blueberry.

It's somewhat an imitation of Blackberry, like it was made to confuse consumers into buying it due to the popularity of another phone which has no ties with it.

I could have made that comment harsher,

but i'm a good soul xD

Now let's have a look at the well-known Blackberry :

Apart from the nicer and smoother-looking keypad, there are not that much difference between the two IMO.

And I am not asking you to spot the differences and 'shoot' me after that (I know Blackie looks way hotter then Bluey) as i'm not trying to judge between the two..Just observe that the rough structures of both phones are very similar if not same.

I just came across that brand (it's local according to reliable sources) when I was hunting for an ideal phone.

I truly hope this is not a form of plagiarism although all facts are suggesting otherwise =/

I am not here to criticise, not here to make accusations, but to throw out the facts to my buddies for u guys to judge for yourselves.

The first cosplayer who caught my eye!!! Just look at it!! The simplest costume with the cheapest materials anyone could ever get his hands on ! But this guy beat some others who had costly ones which didnt fit their appearance and attitude. He beat them flat xD According to me that is. Don't wanna make any enemies here.

And there! The girl for whom we ( Koid, JunKit, Shu-En and I) journeyed far and long to show some love to! Ta-daa~ Ching Yann with her cosplaying as some girl from some anime =D Sorry I am just not good at remembering titles of a foreign language.SOOO...yea.. Leave me a comment if u happen to know this character so as to do THAT character and anime series justice.

This two, escaped from their virtual realms and decided to step into the real world for a game of chess. For life is like a game of chess, changing with each move. Hence the two characters who have always sought for a life unpredictable unlike in their manga, loved gaining full control of their own chess pieces, no longer the puppet, but the puppet master. As if u get what i mean. No worries. This whole paragraph is just random =).

The cutest cosplayer at the event IMO! I saw her just sliding and gliding. She was small and it actually looked like she was gliding O.O must be the long robe causing the illusion. She's just plain adorable la..with those huge eyes and she was green all over! If I'm not mistaken she was awarded for her cuteness =) Proof that I have good judgment !

Time just passes so fast I can't catch up with it!!

Goodness i 'll be hanging out with my good old high school buds again!!

Sigh...I doubt that I will ever find a new set of friends comparable to them..

There are times when i actually think that we really belong to the hedonistic era..

So glad that nothing changed between us although some of us were allocated in different classes.

Not to say that we were as close as before during tht year, it was inevitable u see, and the heavy workload just made things harder.

Fortunately we made up for it after that =D by frequent karaoke sessions (loves!!!) and birthday celebrations.

The gang just keeps growing bigger but it feels just fine =)

It's not like for atoms in which as the number of electrons increases we'll go further apart and it would be easy for one of us to leave.. hahas we've got whole loads of positive nuclear energy holding us together ok!

And we cannot really be likened unto electrons as they repel each other O.O while we...attract.

This post is soooooo random i sound as if im cracking a bad joke..

Had salmon don for lunch^^ cy gave me a treat , which wasnt actually a treat just tht she owed me some money and so its a way of her paying the debt indirectly =)

Gosh!!! was so touched cos of the presents and the presence of all those whom i cared for.

Well koid, no worries about the watch ring ok? ( or is it ring watch? ) Great minds think alike ;)

and cy wrote me a letter which caused me to tear..touching larr she plays heartstrings like a violinist xD

and shu en got me a last minute present of undergarments-shaped earrings..still loved them =)

Dinner. Mushroom Mascarpone Spaghettini. The lemon zest in it made the dish taste weird but luckily the wild mushrooms saved the day !! Thanks everyone who made the effort to come despite of all the jams and inconvenience =D.Looking forward to saturday..will get to see my dear cy cosplaying..can't help but to drool just by picturing tht hahas.. and the gang will be there to support her =D so much to write..soo lil time..so till nx time!!

It is amazing how people whove known each other for a long time can just click suddenly.

And I can tell you, the feeling rocks so bad you'll feel euphoric.

I had a chat with a long lost friend last night and bam!

It just happened like that. We found out that we had SOOO much in common

he's practically a carbon copy of me!!

Our similarities ranged from feeling sympathetic towards beggars and thus giving them some money to being thrifty to the max and drawing..

I know!! we might sound like the silliest ppl in the world but we just cant help it!!

The chemistry just worked between us... it was inevitable and I know we did nothing to avoid it.

There's already one less lonely girl and one less lonely guy in this world =)

Everyday be it after or before class, I notice the workers take a break or sleep by the stairs 'bertilamkan' flattened cardboard boxes.. I mean, don't you think it's downgrading for them as the students always pass by and just stop and stare~~? Don't you think these people deserve to at least have access to some janitor's office or sth?? Therefore, I propose or even demand that the workers should be provided with a well-furnished restroom so as to have a place to rejuvenate well!! I do believe that by doing so their productivity and efficiency will indeed reach a higher level as well!! But then again, I am not of high authority to say such things...sigh..

First of all, I am staying at the apartment right above of the college's library.

It's only the first week of school, but still the library is packed with freshmen.

If only there's someone who would let me in on what's so appealing about a library with only reference books and newspapers to view.

Everyone seem to find it something common to hang at the library studying although most of their classes have not even commenced yet.

I can't imagine how it would be on exam week. Blahs.

And yeah, fortunately for me, I ended up with all hardworking lecturers who are really dedicated in disseminating knowledge to us.

Best part is , my class is the smallest one with only 20 ppl in it xD

and my classmates aren't all going to study med either =D which makes things more interesting i hope. double yay!

And i really salute them lecturers as they can speak fluent english manz!!

Satisfied with the system here despite of the long lecture hours..

Well there's another thing bugging me as well.

There's this cat who ( same kind xD) always enters my apartment..

And Idk how it gets in and yes, I am 100% sure its the very same one (spots and crooked tail O.O)

and cos its always me opening the front door for it to get out.

Hmm..lastly I don't get why couples can just argue and result in being at enmity with each other.

Personal experience led me to this confusion.

I have no idea why we became strangers and it pains me to know that you've been and are still avoiding me.

The immense pain just creeps up on me now and then cos it all happened so fast, I could not cope with it.

And so I made an effort to recall every moment to keep the memories alive, to remind myself that you existed and we loved after all.

Convincing myself that it was not a dream wasn't easy for u covered ur tracks very well and soon enough there was no trace of u left in my life.

Ignorance is bliss indeed, but curiosity drives one out of that happy place / ignorant state to look for unnecessary answers huh?

And yeah, once again curiosity killed the cat. And left her disappointed and miserable.

Last week marked the start of a new phase in my life : college.

Loved orientation week!!!

Got the chance to actually show some of my moves during the performance and guess what?

We rocked the stage!!! and were awarded best performance =)

All thanks to the seniors who had some wicked moves of course..

They sacrificed lotsa time and effort to teach us and gladly took in the glory too =D

It just feels so good when all of our efforts paid off by the end of the day.

At first I was put off by the condition of the apartment toilet,

but when nature calls..well..a girl's gotta do wat a girl's gotta do..and so I got over it and just used it..

Not to say that the toilet emits some disgusting stench but it's just bcos of the wood which chips off due to the wear and tear over 14 years..so..its OK LA~~

And sharing a room has taught me how to be neat and orderly..darn i have become so self-conscious as i know that theres always an extra pair of eyes watching me in my room now..sigh.

OH YA!! Enjoyed a first impression game where you walk around with a piece of paper behind ur back and let ppl write what do they think of u at first sight.

I got comments like stylish and nice hair leh..ahems~! But mostly they were still the common one: 'cute'.

Cant wait to really get the taste of college life!!

I was informed that my grandma had passed away a few days after my arrival at the camp.

Being stubborn like always, I decided not to contact my parents using the public phone like other homesick kids.

Well I didn't really have the time to even miss them due to the seemingly tight schedule

(Sigh put the blame on me being a slowpoke.)

Now I regret not calling cos if I did, I might have the chance to get to know her situation and then be prepared if her condition worsened, which did happen, causing her to reach her demise.

It's sad to say I didn't really took the effort to be close and be there for her.

I have been hesitant and reluctant before, whenever given the task to assist her to get to the toilet or accompany her.

I guess everyone has to go through the stage of being ignorant and immature and then growing up after some unfortunate incident occurs and u feel slapped right in the face.

I too feel sorry as I only found out about her chinese name after her leaving.

彭耀群. Her name really fits her perfectly as it clearly reflects her life and character.

She brings forth brightness to others.

She's like a candle which has burnt selflessly amongst people, be it her family, children, grandchildren etc.

When she was young, the only thing on her mind was pleasing her husband and providing for her children.

She lived the life of a typical girl with a traditional family background, having already the mindset of being somewhat like a stepford wife, showering all with love.

As time passed, she was widowed as Grandpa left her due to illness.

She suffered from stroke previously..but all was well for 15 years.

Then a few months ago, her health condition took a turn for the worse.

However, she never lost her appetite and she brought joy to us

for she didn't worry us but indulged in the food we brought for her during our weekly visits.

We are all sad but relieved concerning her death.

Sad for the loss of a loved one who will never ever be seen on the surface of the earth in the days to come,

and relieved that finally she is freed from sufferings, never waking up from her eternal slumber.

She fought bravely and managed to live for 75 years and I am truly proud of her.

Presents for my dear teachers =D

day before yesterday. friday.29th may.

well, woke up early just to get those crispy meaty pillows from him.

We only stared. We had a thousand thoughts, millions of questions but we not dare utter a single word.

One of the reasons was tht my folks were there. But both of us knew tht it was better to leave it tht way.

The wall between us was meant to b built and it would remain there.

No point breaking down sth so rigid. waste of time and effort as our paths were fated to never intertwine.

at first i thought my day was ruined.

i mean, i even cried when i took a bite of one of the meaty pillows.

i felt his luv but at the same time, he was cold towards me.

well saw this quote frm an email frm an aunt,

"To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.' When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better."

Very, very true.

After last week in which i had to face trials of all kinds,

my life has taken a turn and everything's been quite well recently.

The impossible has been proven possible

much to my delight =D

i even got first prize in the english essay writing competition,

which was shocking, really.

The pros must have faced the writer's block or were not even present that day.

And i luv bio!! well realised tht physics isn't that bad either..

But i guess i do not understand calculus well enough to even pass = =

or maybe my carelessness is the main factor contributing to me failing tht paper = =

No regrets though.

Did my best, learnt how to let things go, and fortunately things turned out pretty well u know.

Imma live life to the fullest, try my very best to not regret my actions and decisions.

All i know is that there are hella alotta suprises which await me in life.

My future's so bright i need shades lol.

It all depends on ur mentality.

But being the playful tabby as she was, mind games were played.

Her 'what-ifs' and sharp opinions clawed him.

She hurt him. She did it knowingly.

Cat hurt lion with words which stabbed his heart.

He could take it no more.

He demanded and insisted that they ought to take different paths.

They separated.

Despite longing for each other, recalling the days they embraced and caressed each other,

both sharing each other's warmth,

They knew it would never be the same again.

The cat thirsts for milk, while the lion could not survive without meat.

They had to part.

But every now and then,

the cat still sees part of the lion in her.

And knows that somewhere out there,

little lion also thinks about her and is still willing to be her guardian angel.

The cat doubts her capability to love

And thus came to the decision of moving on alone

in order not to cause damage to him again.

I finished a puzzle in 3 days.. said to b one of the smallest 300-piece puzzles if i'm not mistaken.

Drowsiness. First I felt euphoric. High.
